Penninggrundet Reef - 21DX/EU176 - Island Festival 2011

This time Shadow DX’ers decided to leave all the comforts behind and head straight out in the Baltic Sea to give the 11 meter community the chance to log a new island in EU-176.

Penninggrundet is a 250 meter long sand reef located in the SM3 archipelago. It is only reachable using a boat in fair to good weather.Penninggrundet is a small sand reef located in the outer part of the Söderhamn archipelago. Its remote location and low topographic profile makes it very vulnerable to the forces of mother nature. It is not the place you want to be when bad weather strikes or sea swell is high!

The winter Ice forces itself on top of the Penninggrundet reef, there is nowhere to hide from bad weather! This small sand reef is the target for Shadow DX’er to activate in the Original Island Festival 2011. The first weekend of June the Shadow Team gathers to put Penninggrundet on air in a true expedition fashion.

This expedition is part of the Original Island Festival 2011 and we plan to be on the air for the whole period of the festival but in addition to this we might also start early on Friday evening to give as many as possible a chance to log this new one.

With the recent increase in sunspots and at the peak of the e-skip season we are confident that both sporadic Es and F-layer propagation to help us reach out all over the world.

The Shadow Team is motivated and ready to log you all, see you in the pileup!
